Hey everybody, the five points jazz fest is this weekend. I am going to work on the garden and then BBQ and go to it. You should join me and invite your friends! Best of all it is free.
Hey everyone,
I want to see what your schedules were like this weekend for working on getting the gardens started. I have been talking to some of you separately about ideas for the gardens and have come up with a plan as laid out below. I will also post this on the website, so instead of replying to this email, please click the link below and comment on the site so that we can all participate in the conversation there.
- Each person wanting to be part of the garden contributes $100 each. This will be used for:
- Plants/seeds
- Materials to keep the dogs out of the gardens
- Soil
- Gardening materials – tools, plant food, plant supports, etc
- Each person will be assigned a specific plant or set of plants to take care of. If you have a preference, please comment on it. The plants off the top of my head to grow are:
- Tomatoes
- Zucchini
- Cucumbers
- Squash
- Carrots
- Lettuce (Various kinds, please comment on what you are interested in)
- Brussel Sprouts
- Onions
- Potatoes
- Strawberries
- Bell Peppers
- Hot peppers (Thai peppers, jalapenos, ??)
- Spices (Basil, Thai Basil, Mint, Cilantro, Parsley, Rosemary, ??)
- Vine type beans or sweet peas?
- Methods of growing – Everyone please use the comments section if you find any articles on innovative ways to grow anything.
- Please everyone note your availability to help out this weekend and next week. I am going to bring my tiller over and we are going to get supplies to get it all prepped. We can start planting this weekend and through the week.
I think that covers it below. If you do not respond to this post by the weekend, I will assume that you are not interested in being involved. I want to make sure that everyone who wants to be involved is committed to making this as awesome as possible. So if you do not think you will have time to be part of this over the summer then we can probably still share some veggies, but it is better that you note that now than when your section of the garden is dying.
I am excited to get this started and hope that you all get involved. Please make sure to post any ideas you might have on how we can organize this, or come talk to me about them.
I am thinking of doing some BBQing around 3-4pm on Sat. Comment to this blog if you want to get involved. Nothing fancy, just some grilling.
Thanks Matt for moving your grill over here!
Hey everybody, I have set up a media server on the wireless network. I have also loaded it with tons of movies, TV shows and music. You are all welcome to access it, and I encourage you to upload media to it as well.
To access it, just go to your network in your file browser. It works on both Mac and PC. Then go to the drive called MYBOOKWORLD > shared.
You will find it all there. I upload new movies and stuff weekly so feel free to watch and download it from there.
I have discovered a new service that give you SMS updates when street sweeping is in the neighborhood. I know most everyone parks on in the parking lot, but you might want to get the updates just in case and to warn friends.

Okay everyone, it is springtime and about time to get planing on a vegetable garden. Matt and I have been talking about what we should do and have a rough plan.
We are going to get a bunch of high quality soil delivered that we will put along the north fence. From there we will get the beds all organized into sections of different types of vegetables that like to grow together.
Each unit will be responsible for a section of the garden. This means no excuses, you take care of your section. If you do not take care of your section, then you lose it and also lose privileges to enjoy in the fresh produce.
I will keep you all updated of the progress of the soil and garden, but please comment below what vegetables you would like to be responsible for. Whatever vegetables you choose, you must do the research and find out what you need to do to get the best possible results, we are not doing a half assed garden here!
